Bethany Edmunds holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Rutgers University where she researched Machine Learning. Currently, she is the Assistant Dean for Computing Programs in Seattle and Vancouver for Northeastern University and Board President for the AI Network of BC. Dr. Edmunds is passionate about breaking down barriers to create greater diversity, access, and inclusivity within the technology community.

Shanu Sushmita
Shanu Sushmita is an assistant teaching professor in the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University, based in Seattle. As a researcher, Sushmita focuses on machine learning techniques and the application side of information retrieval. In 2012, her doctoral work was recognized as among the most interesting of the year by the ACM SIGIR newsletter. As her career has progressed, Sushmita has grown interested in finding ways to use these technologies to make a better world. Now at Khoury College, Sushmita is further exploring AI ethics and responsible AI through her leadership of the Generative AI Research Lab.

Divya Chaudhary
Dr. Divya Chaudhary is an Assistant Teaching Professor at Northeastern University, Seattle, teaching courses in machine learning and cloud computing. She holds a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering with expertise in cloud load scheduling. Her AI research for healthcare and finance covers melanoma detection, Alzheimer’s diagnosis, and hate speech mitigation. Dr. Chaudhary has published at AAAI, ACL, and KDD; received grants from OpenAI and Google; serves as editor for PLOS ONE; reviews for major journals; and mentors students in NLP and health informatics.

Celina Berg
Dr. Celina Berg is a Teaching Professor in Computer Science at the University of Victoria. Her work focuses on inclusive and effective computing education, curriculum development, and active learning. She previously held a tenure-track teaching role at UBC, where she contributed to programming education research and first-year student support. At UVic, she has led major curriculum reforms, co-developed a new Data Science program, and continues to champion equity and engagement in computer science.

Tamara Bonaci
Tamara Bonaci is an associate teaching professor at the Khoury College of Computer Sciences at Northeastern University’s Seattle campus, and an Affiliate Assistant Professor at the University of Washington, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. She received her graduate degree and doctorate from the University of Washington, where she specialized in the security and privacy of emerging biomedical technologies, including brain-computer interfaces and teleoperated surgical robots. Her research interests focus on security, and privacy, with special interest on privacy-preserving machine learning, including federated learning and unlearning, as well as cryptographic methods for privacy. She is involved with a joint ACM/IEEE effort at development of new graduate-level privacy curriculum.

Adrienne Slaughter is a Principal Software Engineer specializing in Machine Learning Operations. Dr. Slaughter specializes in enabling growing technology companies to mature and expand their use of Machine Learning in production. She is an educator committed to the growth and development of software engineers, teaching advanced courses at Northeastern University, Vanderbilt University and University of Washington. Dr Slaughter received her PhD in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Washington.
